01Questions and answers

How do I type a mixed number like 3⅜?

Type 3, tap and, type 3, then tap /8. The denominator key finishes the fraction.

How do I enter feet and inches, like 5′ 3⅜″?

Type 5, tap ′ (feet), then type the inches as usual: 3 and 3 /8. You can also mark inches with ″.

What if my denominator isn't 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64?

Use x/y: type the top number, tap x/y, then type the bottom number (e.g. 7 x/y 13).

Why are some keys dimmed?

They don't make sense at that moment (for example a second denominator), so CutMath dims them to prevent mistakes. Tapping one gives a little shake.

How do I switch between mixed, improper and decimal?

Tap the answer, or the Mixed chip under it. Tap the unit chip to switch between feet-inch and inches (or sq ft and sq in).

What is the "≈ nearest 1/16" line?

When an exact answer falls between ruler marks (like 6 6/7″), CutMath also shows the nearest 1/16″ mark you can actually measure. With CutMath Pro you can choose 1/8, 1/32 or 1/64 instead.

How do I reuse an earlier answer?

Tap it in History. It drops into your current calculation.

How do I cut a board into equal pieces, or space balusters evenly?

Tap the Tools button (wrench and screwdriver) at the top, then Equal Spacing. Choose Equal Pieces to split a length into equal pieces, allowing for the blade kerf: you get the length of each piece and where to mark every cut. Choose Even Spacing for balusters, pickets or shelves: enter the opening and the item width, then either the number of items or the largest gap allowed. CutMath gives you the gap, the on-center distance and where each item goes. Equal Spacing comes with CutMath Pro.

How do I save and share a cut list?

Long-press any calculation in History and choose Add to Cut List, or tap Tools → Cut Lists → New List. Open a list and tap Share to send it by Messages, Mail or Notes. Cut Lists come with CutMath Pro, and lists you've saved always stay available.

How do I clear History?

Tap Clear at the top (or in the History sidebar on iPad).

I bought Pro but it's not showing, or I got a new phone.

Open Settings (gear icon) → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.

How do I get a refund?
